Sewing for Kids: The Lucy Dress

Create a sweet and stylish dress for a little girl—up to size 6! This versatile pattern works beautifully for any season or occasion. The fabric you choose sets the tone: light and breezy prints for summer, or cozy fabrics for cooler months. Pair with a long-sleeve top and tights, and it’s instantly party-ready.

This class is perfect for beginners through advanced sewists who know the basics of operating a sewing machine. You can make this dress using a sewing machine, serger, or a combination of both. Please bring a rounded measurement of your child’s chest and height for best fit.

Required Materials

• Pattern: Lucy Dress by Children’s Corner Store, #241

• Fabric: 1 yard each of two coordinating woven fabrics. Quilting cotton, linen or linen blends, and denim all work well. Directional fabrics are fine. Prewash and press for best results.

• Machine: Sewing machine or serger in good working order, with pedal, power cord, and manual.

• Thread: Sewing thread and matching bobbin in a neutral color or 4 spools of serger cone thread.

• Needles: Size 80/12 for your machine.

• Cutting Tools: Sharp shears and thread snips.

• Notions: 2 large or 4 small buttons.

• Tools: Pattern weights or pins, and sewing clips.

Class Cancellations/Refunds:

• Classes canceled by Cut Up and Sew will be fully refunded to each student or, if preferred, students may receive store credit.

• If you are unable to make a class or event, please contact Cut Up and Sew 72 hours/3 days prior to the start date of such class or event to receive a full refund.

• There are no refunds for cancellations made less than 72 hours/3 days before the start date of a class.  Your class fee can be applied towards another class or returned in the form of store credit.

• There are no refunds on class fees for "Special Event" or outside teachers/classes within 30 days of the event date unless we can fill your spot with another person. 

• Refunds will not be provided for "No Shows".

• If you have a major emergency and need to cancel your attendance at a class, up to the time of such class we will work with you to either make up the class or provide you with a store credit.
