Learn to Quilt: Make a 4-Patch!

A basic knowledge of sewing and using your sewing machine will be assumed. You should be familiar with threading your machine, inserting bobbins, using a rotary cutter and sewing a straight line/seam. 

The class will include topics such as fabric grain, cutting fabric for blocks, determining a ¼” seam (with or without a ¼” foot), sewing a straight line to join the blocks, “nesting” seams, pressing (versus ironing), making a “quilt sandwich”, and adding sashing. Binding will be mentioned, but not taught during this abbreviated class.

The finished product can be used as a potholder, mug mat, small placemat.

MUST KNOW HOW TO: use your sewing machine - it's suggested to take Sewing 101 before this class.

Supply List:

• Sewing machine in good working order and one that you are familiar and comfortable with. You should bring the power cord, foot pedal and manual. (if you have the manual)
• All-purpose thread in a neutral color
• 1-2 pre-wound bobbins
• Sewing scissors
• Seam ripper
• Straight pins with pin cushion.
• 3 coordinating fat quarters of good quality cotton.

Our shop classroom provides the following:
an iron, ironing board, rotary cutter, ruler and mat.

Additionally, for this class, an 8.5” square piece of Insul-Bright will be provided to each participant for use in the final project.

Class Cancellations/Refunds:

• Classes canceled by Cut Up and Sew will be fully refunded to each student or, if preferred, students may receive store credit.

• If you are unable to make a class or event, please contact Cut Up and Sew 72 hours/3 days prior to the start date of such class or event to receive a full refund.

• There are no refunds for cancellations made less than 72 hours/3 days before the start date of a class.  Your class fee can be applied towards another class or returned in the form of store credit.

• There are no refunds on class fees for "Special Event" or outside teachers/classes within 30 days of the event date unless we can fill your spot with another person. 

• Refunds will not be provided for "No Shows".

• If you have a major emergency and need to cancel your attendance at a class, up to the time of such class we will work with you to either make up the class or provide you with a store credit.
