Woven ornaments made of fabric, paper and other natural elements are a popular holiday tradition in Scandinavia dating back hundreds of years. Windows and trees are decorated with
these stars during the Christmas season. Many families have traditions of getting together in the beginning of December to make a new woven star ornament each year for their tree.
Scandinavian Star Project List
- 2 Fat quarters, contrasting colors
- Spray fabric stabilizer or starch
- Blow dryer to quickly dry fabric after stabilizing (optional)
- Iron and Ironing Mat
- Scissors
- Rotary wheel, straight edge, and cutting board
- Fabric Fuse (fabric glue)
- Wonder Clips, or small fabric clips
- That Purple Thang (optional but very useful)
- Heavy thread and large needle (for hanger)
